Thump, thump, thump.
Flossie Wright knocked on the door of the hospital room.
From inside, came the composed and forceful voice of Elder Master Wright.
Guessing that he was all right, Flossie prepared herself mentally and then pushed the door open.
As soon as she entered, she was greeted by a blast of cold air that sent chills throughout her body.
"What are you here for?!"
She looked up to hear an annoyed and dissatisfied voice followed by Elder Master Wright’s stern scrutinous gaze.
No one else was in the room; Elder Master Wright was half-lying in bed, leaning against the pillows. Seeing her come in, his aged face was full of annoyance.
Unfazed, Flossie Wright walked towards the bed with a nonchalant expression and calmly said, "To see you."
"I don’t need it!"
With a cold snort, it was obvious that Elder Master Wright was full of hostility.
A family member like her had disgraced them; it would be a miracle if he showed her any kindness!
Flossie argued placidly.
At that, Elder Master Wright choked and immediately glared at her fiercely.
Impressive with her sharp tongue, huh?!
Taking deep breaths, Elder Master Wright grew increasingly angry.
"Here, breakfast."
Approaching the bed, Flossie extended the congee she had brought with her.
Originally, the congee was piping hot, but after journeying for an hour and being covered with her outer jacket, it was now warm—a perfect temperature to eat.
Without even looking at her, Elder Master Wright turned his head away and said angrily, "I’ve eaten already!"
She didn’t get angry, and actually found it amusing as she watched him, adding, "It’s from Old Flossie’s."
The moment the words were out, Elder Master Wright paused slightly and then turned to look at her, eyeing the congee in her hand with suspicion.
This was the shop his late wife had loved, and since her passing, Elder Master Wright would occasionally drop by to have a meal.
Unexpected—
Flossie had made such a move.
Elder Master Wright narrowed his eyes and took a meticulous look at Flossie standing by the bed.
Her posture was upright, dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt with black jeans, her black coat draped over her elbow, and her other hand carrying the packed congee.
Without her military uniform, her military bearing was still unmistakable.
After a moment’s thought, Elder Master Wright was still not tempted by the food and continued to look unfriendly as he questioned, "What are you planning to do?"
"To discuss something."
Setting the congee aside, Flossie spoke dispassionately.
"If it’s about you staying in the Frogman Forces, there is nothing to discuss between us," said Elder Master Wright with cold condescension.
Elder Master Wright, after all, had a distinguished military career, and although he had retired, he still retained his rank.
He had the clout to transfer Flossie out.
"But I have something to say," Flossie stated firmly.
Elder Master Wright said irritably.
"Your health..." Flossie hinted meaningfully.
"Hmph, you don’t need to worry about that!" Elder Master Wright retorted with a mix of pride and coquettishness.
Flossie nodded slightly and went straight to the point, "I need to stay in Eddy Codalt."
"You don’t have the right to decide that," Elder Master Wright’s expression turned even colder.
With such certainty in his response, Flossie didn’t even furrow her brow, "That’s why I am here to negotiate with you."
"There’s no room for negotiation," Elder Master Wright cut her off bluntly.
"You won’t let me stay in Eddy Codalt, just because I lack the spirit of sacrifice?" Flossie raised her eyebrows and asked.
