What kind of friend does that?
Jocelyn Carrington was surprised for a moment, then joy appeared on her brows, and she said to Flossie Wright, "Since he’s an ex, that means I can pursue him, right?"
Giving her a sidelong glance, Flossie Wright paused, then swept a look at Belinda Nichols beside her.
"You pursue him?"
A cool voice, tinged with a hint of doubt.
The one who asked was Belinda Nichols.
"Is there a problem..." Jocelyn Carrington began to ask but then realized something was off, her face filled with wariness as she asked, "You don’t like him too, do you?"
"No," came the definitive reply, as Belinda Nichols looked straight ahead, adding with indifference, "I just think, you’re not good enough for him."
Flossie Wright and Becca Reyes exchanged glances, both maintaining silence.
The hurtfulness of those words was indeed too much.
Jocelyn Carrington’s face suddenly darkened, her eyes burning with anger as she glared furiously at Belinda Nichols.
However, Belinda Nichols appeared oblivious to her rage, meeting her angry gaze with a cool, detached expression and not caring at all about her feelings.

Without receiving a response, Jocelyn Carrington clenched her teeth and fists suddenly tightened.
"Calm down! If you want to chase him, go ahead, none of this ’worthy’ or ’unworthy’ business."
Becca Reyes placed her hands on her shoulders and advised her earnestly in her ear.
We’re still being punished with running, how could we allow a fight?
If they were penalized with a few more laps, it was uncertain whether Flossie Wright, in her current state, would be able to continue.
Unexpectedly, Jocelyn Carrington shook off her hand and surged forward angrily, "Aren’t you the one chasing Calvin Ramos? If someone said you weren’t good enough for him, could you stand it?"
Becca Reyes froze in place, her expression stiffening.
At the same time, Flossie Wright and Belinda Nichols stopped as well.
The atmosphere shifted suddenly, and after a moment, Jocelyn Carrington came back to her senses, realizing she had touched upon Becca Reyes’s sore spot. She bit her lip lightly, feeling a bit regretful, yet unable to bring herself to apologize.
After a while, knowing she was at fault, Jocelyn Carrington reached out to grab Becca Reyes’s arm, her voice carrying a hint of apology, "Hey—"
"It’s okay." Becca Reyes took a deep breath, avoided her hand, and started jogging forward. "Let’s keep running."
Becca Reyes sped off first, with Flossie Wright following closely behind.
Then Belinda Nichols frowned slightly and followed suit.
Standing there, Jocelyn Carrington watched them and paused for a while. Eventually, biting her lip in frustration and unable to vent her anger, she silently caught up.
The four of them became silent all of a sudden.
Almost half an hour later, Flossie Wright and the others finally completed the three kilometers. As they returned, they caught the end of the combat training and got the chance to rest for twenty minutes.
Rowdy Brightwill had already left.
Maggie Summerton was organizing the troops and then handed over the next training session to the diving instructors—Oscar Bluen and Violet Evans.
These two seemed rather normal.
Oscar Bluen appeared more easygoing, while Violet Evans was very professional, not timid or showy, and the training was standard and by the book.
Indoor diving.
It wasn’t seawater, and even if soaked in it, it wouldn’t irritate the wounds, which was a relief to Flossie Wright.
Diving was as easy for her as shooting.
After all, she had experience with free diving. Though not as good as Perry Reed, but Perry Reed was extraordinary, and she had no problems with the forces’ training.
Her breath-holding time was relatively long, and even among those veteran soldiers, she could compete on an equal footing.
Aside from the pain here and there on her body, there truly was nothing else.
While others were training, she seemed to be playing.
The afternoon training session ended.
There was an hour’s time for dinner.
Flossie had Becca Reyes go to the cafeteria to help bring back some Steamed Buns, while she rushed back to the Dormitory.
She was bruised all over, and there was more training to come. She could endure it, but doing so would only aggravate her injuries, which naturally couldn’t be neglected.
Once in the dormitory and with the door shut, Flossie briefly examined her wounds, then proceeded to rummage through a pile of medicine.
They were all from Derek Moore’s last delivery.
Among the specialty items and props, there were various kinds of medicines for injuries.
Clearly, Glenn Hutchinson had anticipated that their training would be tough.
She had bruises all over her body—on her knees, arms, and back there were abrasions, some minor and others quite severe.
Mariana Buck had been careful with the force used; she didn’t let Flossie suffer bone fractures or internal injuries. Moreover, falling into water rather than on hard concrete ground considerably softened the impact, which was much better.
But still, the injuries were serious.
First, Flossie applied an ointment for dispersing bruises on both arms and legs, covered in large, shocking patches of purple and blue.
Usually, if Flossie got bumped or bruised in a way that didn’t hinder her movements, she wouldn’t mind; but given the current situation, even she frowned upon seeing them.
It was brutal enough!
After smearing ointment on the bruised areas, she immediately took out another bottle of medicine to deal with the other wounds.
The medicine stung as it touched the wounds, causing Flossie to wince in pain.
Clenching her teeth, she thought of Mariana Buck’s impassive face, and for once, Flossie was truly annoyed.
But even with that annoyance, she still had to tend to her injuries.
With furrowed brows, Flossie finished treating the large abrasions on her knees, then began to take off her jacket to deal with the injuries on her arms.
Although she was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt, the clothing was originally wet and now felt icy cold against her skin, numbing her to the point where she couldn’t feel anything.
The door was pushed open.
Flossie paused in treating her wounds.
Stopping her actions, Flossie looked up only to catch sight of Mariana Buck entering the room.
Mariana Buck walked in and immediately saw Flossie sitting on the saddle-stool.
The jacket was tossed aside, and she was in a short-sleeved shirt. Her bare arms, not exposed to sun or rain, appeared even whiter, making the bruises on her arms stand out starkly.
Her small arms and elbows were scraped, the skin rubbed off in large areas. Because the clothes were wet, the wounds hadn’t scabbed over, and fresh red blood seeped out. Combined with the bruising on her arms, it looked pitiful.
Flossie was the first to look away, focusing on preparing her medicine.
Soon after, Mariana Buck too averted her gaze.
Within two minutes, Becca Reyes and Belinda Nichols entered the door.
Upon seeing Flossie’s arms, Becca Reyes’s eyes widened, and she couldn’t help but curse out loud.
Fucking hell!
Just how severe were the injuries?!
Rushing over in a frenzy, Becca Reyes closely examined the injuries on both of Flossie’s exposed arms and her brow furrowed deeply.
"Flossie Wright, you’re really tough to have endured this much!"
Grinding her teeth, she spat out the sentence, and with a dark expression, Becca Reyes glared at Mariana Buck who was standing in front of her own closet.
Right then—
She walked over deliberately, her hands clenched into tight fists, an undeniable fury spreading across her face.
