That’s a bit too much.
Glancing at the five test papers in her hand, Flossie Wright rolled her eyes in frustration.
She had never been fond of attending classes, but she wasn’t entirely ignorant about military affairs, survival skills in the wilderness, and strategies and tactics. However, when it came to Internal Affairs Management...
She was completely clueless.
Looking up slightly, she saw that Janice Wood, seated in the front row, was too far away for her to catch a glimpse of the answers.
Someone quietly tapped the desk.
Flossie’s gaze shifted, and with a bit of surprise, she noticed who had just taken the seat without being aware of it previously.
It was Calvin Ramos.
Feeling her eyes on him, Calvin turned his head slightly. A soft smile appeared in his warm eyes, and cursory, he shifted the nearly completed test paper to the side, allowing Flossie to see the answers clearly.
Her eyes flickered with disbelief, but Flossie did not resist.
A gift horse, regardless of any hidden intentions, was never to be turned away. She was accustomed to facing whatever came her way head-on and wasn’t one to overthink.
Of course, these answers wouldn’t be withheld from Becca Reyes either.
After more than half an hour of frantic writing, Flossie, who had come late to the exam, had aching fingers from writing and found it difficult even to hold the pen. But the test—thanks to having Calvin’s paper to copy from—was surprisingly easy for Flossie and Becca. Calvin’s foundational knowledge was excellent, at least in areas Flossie was familiar with. His answers were essentially flawless, and even the parts on Internal Affairs and regulations...

Anyhow, Flossie hadn’t studied those rules, and she wouldn’t have known where to start. In any case, Flossie was the winner however she chose to copy.
"Why do you think Calvin let us copy from him?"
On their way back to the cooking class after exam, Becca stuck to Flossie, continually discussing this matter. Even though Flossie never offered her a definitive answer, Becca, like a young girl in love, couldn’t stop talking about it.
She’s too much!
Flossie rubbed her ears, not wanting to stand with her at all.
Unfazed by Flossie’s apparent distaste, Becca, the incurably curious girl, began analyzing casually. "Did he do that because he’s interested in me, or you?"
After some hesitation, Flossie yielded to Becca’s relentless rambling, her expression showing both resignation and contemplation.
Upon reflection, Calvin’s actions were rather unwise.
Neither Flossie nor Becca were particularly close to Calvin. The rules for this examination were clear - anyone caught cheating would be removed immediately without any second chance. So...
Was it worth the risk for him?
There was a possibility that he was interested in Becca.
But Becca had been very obvious about her feelings. If he gave her the slightest encouragement, she would gladly marry him, even bear his child. But, he had never responded at all.
As far as Flossie knew, he only kept in touch with Becca.
Becca, totally oblivious to all these possible implications, was overjoyed at Flossie’s dismissive response and could hardly conceal her excitement.
In her early twenties, she fantasized about love like any other female soldier, and due to her straightforward personality, she was more daring in pursuing someone she liked than most girls.
