Flossie Wright found two sturdy tree trunks and estimated the distance between two slanting branches, then she picked up the Dagger and began chopping at the smaller tree.
She chopped down about ten trees in total.
As darkness completely fell,
Sandy Cruz gathered some dry firewood and piled it up between the two trees, lighting a fire.
Immediately after, she stacked ten tree trunks together and used the parachute ropes to bind them onto the branches of the two trees, suspending them in the air to make a "bed".
By the time everything was done, about an hour had passed.
Flossie carried back the processed wild boar, dragging along a large pile of banana leaves as well.
They were in case of rain.
From across the fire, Sandy heard a rustling and looked up to see far into the distance.
Flossie emerged from the darkness.
The pork was cut into four pieces with clean, precise cuts.
She had threaded the slices with vines, carrying them in one hand while dragging dozens of banana leaves, tied with the vines, with ease.
"I’ll handle the rest, you just roast these pieces of meat."
Her words were blunt.
It wasn’t a command,
but it left no room for disagreement.
Sandy Cruz’s brows slightly furrowed.
Soon, Flossie placed the banana leaves by the fire, then raised an eyebrow at him, "I’m terrible at roasting."
Her implication was clear, don’t expect her to roast the meat.
A twitch at the corner of his mouth,
Sandy took the wild boar meat from her.
To his surprise, he found that all bones had been removed, the skin peeled away, leaving only chunks of fresh pork; most of the fat was trimmed off, leaving very little clinging to the lean meat.
Only the meat remained.
The pig’s head and limbs had already been dealt with.
"Was too lazy to clean the guts, just make do with it,"
Flossie shrugged her shoulders casually as he examined the meat, explaining with an air of nonchalance.
Having shared a dining table with Sandy plenty of times, she could figure out Sandy Cruz’s tastes.
He didn’t like eating innards.
Flossie was too lazy to deal with them, so she buried everything that didn’t have meat, including the innards, by the river.
Sandy had no objections to this.
Seeing his agreement, Flossie didn’t bother with it further and quickly knelt down to cut the vines.
She took out three banana leaves and laid them neatly on the ground,
then gestured to him that he could place the pork on them.
The rest of the banana leaves were, of course, meant to be used for bedding and as a rain shelter.
With reluctance, Sandy placed the pork on them, ready to cut the larger pieces for easier roasting later.
"How’s your knife work?"
Suddenly, Flossie leaned in to ask.
With a frown, Sandy coldly replied, "Not bad."
No sooner had he spoken,
he held the Dagger and with a raise of his hand, sliced off a piece of pork.
Staring at the pork in his hands, Sandy pursed his lips.
Thin at the top, thick at the bottom.
The cut really wasn’t that great.
Sandy’s face darkened.
He was used to wielding a knife against people, not lifeless chunks of meat.
Being able to pierce it was already an achievement.
Uh, more importantly, he rarely chopped vegetables.
"Let me do it."
Flossie couldn’t help but laugh.
Catching the smile on her lips, Sandy’s face darkened even more.
He tossed the meat onto the banana leaf.
Flossie’s mood seemed quite lifted as she squinted her eyes with delight.
Swiftly, she pulled out her Dagger, pressed her fingers on the pork, and with a slight movement of her wrist, the sharp blade fell and she cut a piece of meat of even thickness.
