Glenn Hutchinson and Flossie Wright weren’t related in any way, and it was rumored that even Hutchinson’s own soldiers didn’t know about him. How could Flossie possibly know the whereabouts of the mysterious Hutchinson?
It was genuinely boring.
Becca Reyes looked at him confusedly and frowned. Just as she was about to rebut him, she caught Flossie’s elusive glance. That hunting look in her eyes sent shivers down her spine.
Thus, without hesitation, Becca instantly shut her mouth and said no more.
For some reason, ever since they returned to the base, every time Flossie heard the kitchen staff pretending to ask about Glenn, or about her relationship with him, only cynical glares was her response. They were so chilling that they seemed to drop the room’s temperature, and she acted like a scorned woman bearing deep resentment for Glenn.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t see Glenn in person or observe his situation, and had no idea what had occurred between Flossie and Glenn.
However, after a few days, the kitchen staff dared not ask Flossie about Glenn anymore.
They simply couldn’t handle Flossie’s icy stares.
"Speaking of which," Stuart Weston, who had not taken it to heart, was perusing a book filled with block letters. He furrowed his brows high and complained as always, "Other groups are doing physical training, while we spend so much time reading. Is it worth it?"
Ever since Flossie set up the plan, they had spent most of their time reading. Every time he saw other groups training from dawn to dusk, even overtime at night, he grew envious. He felt he was lagging behind unknowingly.
He heard other groups gossiping a couple of times, saying they were focusing too much on their shooting skills and neglecting other areas. Each time he heard that, he wanted to lose his temper, but Calvin Ramos would always hold him back, signaling him not to.
"Exercises are not fights. Winning doesn’t necessarily mean you have good physical strength or skills. Besides, you can train physically anytime, but you can’t always find time to learn these things."
Becca Reyes rubbed her forehead. Even though she was tired from reading, she firmly stood by Flossie’s side.
Stuart furrowed his brows, wanting to argue that learning so much was of no use. However, he had argued about this too many times. Apart from Becca occasionally responding to him, Flossie never paid him any attention. She didn’t bother to explain and maintained an attitude of ’take it or leave it’ throughout.
"Calvin," Stuart finally turned his attention to Calvin Ramos. With a teasing smile, he said, "You used to train all the time. Now you waste so much time on books. Don’t you think your physical fitness is falling behind?"
Calvin, who had been concentrating on his book, looked up. After hesitating for a moment, he responded seriously, "I don’t think my physical fitness is falling behind."
Stuart moved his lips but swallowed all the persuasions he was going to say.
He finally realized that everyone sided with Flossie!
"Do you think reading is useless?"
Flossie glanced at the horizon where the sun was about to set, and then asked Stuart unexpectedly. Her voice was as light as the breeze, which sent chills down his spine.
Stuart inexplicably felt a strong sense of pressure, as if a strong wind was sweeping over him, making his heart tighten and his body tense.
"What good can this do?"
Stuart pointed at the book in front of him, but his voice was far from as strong as it was when he was challenging earlier. It really seemed quite weak.
"Just in time," Flossie closed her book and stood up. Looking down at Stuart, she narrowed her eyes slightly and said lightly, "I’m going hunting in the mountains, and I can have a competition with you on the way."
Laid-back tone, chilly words, almost made Stuart spit blood from anger.
He knew Flossie went hunting in the mountains every day at this time because she always brought back a lot of game after dinner. Then, Glenn would cook them a delicious midnight snack with his superb culinary skills.
But Flossie’s "convenient competition"...
Damn it, what did she mean by that!
Did she think he was not worth her time?!
