Erina Taylor.
The feeling of familiarity struck hard, and Christ Cartwright stared at her dumbfounded, even losing himself in the moment.
In his memory, that ostentatious and domineering woman, despite her young age, could control campus bullies and street thugs with her courage and fists.
It seemed there was nothing in this world she was afraid of.
As long as she believed something was right, she would do it without hesitation, single-handedly taking down a dozen knife-wielding robbers. The young her was the most dazzling presence on Green Hill Street.
And indeed, the brightest scenery.
Unfortunately, she died too young.
Thinking of this, he couldn’t help feeling a twinge of sadness.
Time passed and things had changed, what once was, is no more.
If that brash individual saw Green Hill Street now, no matter how strong she acted on the surface, she would definitely be heartbroken.
After ending the call, Flossie Wright tossed the phone to him.
Caught off guard, Christ Cartwright managed to catch it, somewhat flustered.
"Hey, do you still have family?"
Walking ahead, Flossie Wright asked casually.
"No, all gone," he shook his head, sighing deeply.
Halting her steps, Flossie Wright looked serious, "Because of the earthquake?"
Facing a stranger, Christ Cartwright didn’t want to answer, but maybe it was her carefree air, or perhaps that familiar feeling, that made it hard for him to refuse.
"Yeah, pretty much," he nodded, his tone slightly heavy, "I didn’t have many left to begin with, and they all died in this earthquake. Now, I only have a nephew left, buried in that Education Building, alive or dead, I don’t know."
"You..." Christ Cartwright frowned slightly, suspiciously asking, "are really interested?"
Shrugging, Flossie Wright smiled, "Just making conversation."
"Oh." Without any suspicion, Cartwright answered frankly, "I don’t have many friends. Some of my past friends went to the Bureau, some went out to work, and some died in this earthquake. In short, they’re gone, all gone."
After a brief pause, Flossie Wright asked again, "Do you have a job?"
This time, Cartwright was genuinely puzzled, "Hey girl, are you conducting a census?"
Meeting someone on the road, never having seen them before, and asking about their people, friends, work...
Why was she being so nosy?
What good would knowing his business do her, was she a human trafficker or something?
Tilting her head slightly, she lifted her gaze to meet his scrutiny.
Her eyes were long and beautiful, her pupils dark and bright, her clean, pure makeup-free face bathed in the weak light filtering through the clouds. She didn’t have the firmness and severity from before; instead, she looked much gentler.
Christ Cartwright was a rough guy. As an adult, he struggled for survival, had several girlfriends, but they all dumped him eventually, deeming him too poor and unable to make them happy.
He thought it was enough for a woman to be considerate and capable. Seeing her today, he couldn’t help but assess her appearance.
Long eyebrows, delicate features, not to mention her charisma; just her looks alone were attractive, even the simple act of frowning or lifting her eyes was surprisingly captivating.
He hadn’t noticed before, but now standing in front of him and taking a few more glances, he found it hard to look away.
"Ah," sensing the gaze upon her, Cartwright belatedly realized it, and then felt embarrassed, "Can we not talk about it?"
Pausig for a moment, Flossie Wright simply nodded, "Sure."
If he didn’t want to talk, then he wouldn’t. She was just asking, after all. He had the right not to answer.
Looking up at the people bustling above, Flossie Wright quickly withdrew her gaze.

"Shall we go take a look?" Flossie Wright asked him.
